The Eyes Have It

A visit from 90 million miles away

Waking up this morning, the first thing I saw was something ordinary, yet extraordinary.

Of all the radiant sunlight which sustains our planet and reflects off of other celestial bodies, a small swatch of the sun's rays formed a square of light standing on it's corner in my darkened room.

Light goes on within and without you

In spite of the roof's best effort, a skylight framed the the light-burst of energy which found a landing spot the wall - illuminating my own little heart of darkness. In graceful moment, the sun reached out with a friendly nod.

How sunlight and the sun itself can radiate universally and appear localized at the same time, is a symbol and actual life-giving manifestation of Source energy.

Without sufficient light reflecting off an object, objects would remain invisible in darkness. As light appears, darkness gives way to shapes, true colors, and surface textures once covered.

It's easy to take for granted how dependent one is on light to see clearly all aspects of reality. It's light grace which allows moving forward with confidence. It is the light of knowledge which nurses one to clarity; sparking internal reflections, awakenings and new visions.

Sri Krishna in Bhagavad Gita advises his friend and disciple Arjuna, to meditate on him with heart and mind as the Supreme Personality of Godhead who is energetically present in all things.

"O son of Kunti [Arjuna], I am the taste of water, the light of the sun and the moon, the syllable om in the Vedic mantras; I am the sound in ether and ability in man." Bg 7.8

Lord Brahma also prays: "The sun, who is the king of all the planets, full of infinite effulgence, the image of the good soul, is the eye of this world. I adore the Primeval Lord Govinda in pursuance of Whose order the sun performs his journey mounting the wheel of time." Brahma Samhita 5.52 (Also see Sept 2012 Archive "A Sun of God?")

Prabhupada shared his realized vision of God as the all-inclusive, original Source, Sri Krishna, the All-Attractive supremely beautiful embodiment of Eternity, Knowledge and Bliss - The Absolute Truth from which everything emanates, along with His divine consort Srimati Radharani. I'm eternally grateful for being allowed within the vision of someone who could see and sense the Supreme Lord everywhere and always.

His Divine Grace AC Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada, my eternal guru and guide, who's vision was startling clear and pure, taught us to see through the eyes of holy revealed scriptures and the examples of saints as guiding lights.

He embodied a pure devotee's heart-centered spiritual vision as described in Brahma Samhita 5.38:

I worship Govinda, the Primeval Lord, Who is Shyamasundara, Krishna Himself with inconceivable innumerable attributes, whom the pure devotees see in their heart of hearts, with the eye of devotion tinged with the salve of love."

He understood God as One Source, Who has unlimited mercy, love, names, forms, qualities expansions, and pastimes with all creation.

"I worship Govinda, the Primeval Lord, Who manifested Himself personally as Krishna and the different avataras in the world in the forms of Rama, Nrisimha, Vamana, etc., as His subjective portions". 5.33

In the Krishna Balaram Temple in Vrindavan, India, this divine painting portal reminds us that Sri Krishna is always smiling on us, waiting for us to return to Him, so that we can revive our eternal loving pastimes.

I noticed when walking by this temple wall painting, Krishna was kindly keeping me in His vision, as I walked from His far left to His far right side. God is the beginning and the end; the Alpha & Omega!

Sometimes God can appear in a fleeting form of square-shaped light splashed on a wall. He also appears as the ever-youthful form of divine bliss, embodied in living color as the Supreme Personality of Godhead. He is the same personality of Godhead who is seen as non-different from both His material and spiritual energies - by those whose eyes are tinged with the salve of divine love, and even to those practicing that vision.

Heart Visions

The nature of the soul's expression was visibly revealed by Sri Krishna's latest incarnation as Lord Chaitanya (see March 2018 archive - An Ocean Of Mercy). He personified the mood of a devotee of God, longing to re-connect, then spontaneously engage in divine song and dance - directly in association with the Supreme Lord.

Whether in purity, or in a shadow state, each individual at some point seeks connection; union with another which takes on many shapes - both earth-bound and cosmic. As sparks of the divine, each of us have love to be expressed, which we realize in stages with each other to some degree - a loving propensity reaching perfection when including the  Source of all love, the Personality of Godhead, Who lives eternally within and without.

Separation from those near and dear is sometimes forced by circumstance - but separation can also be a divine source of needed introspection, contemplation, inspiration and ecstasy, when seen through the eyes of loving acceptance.
